Flavor and Culture a Walk through the Gastronomy of Medellín
Now yes, and without further ado, we mention the best-known dishes of Antioquia gastronomy that we were able to taste during our trip to Medellín.
Sancocho antioqueño Medellín is soup heaven. No matter the weather, whether it is raining or very sunny, whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner, what is true is that it is one of the classic dishes of the gastronomy of Antioquia. The sancocho contains vegetables such as potatoes, cassava, bananas and corn. As for meats, it has three types, chicken, pork and beef. The result of mixing and cooking all this is a delicious broth loaded with a lot of substance. Normally the soup is accompanied with rice, avocado, and chopped cilantro to give it much more flavor.

Chorizo con arepa A perfect meal is fried artisanal chorizos with corn arepa, lemon and is usually accompanied by cooked papa. Choripán Don Luis is a small food stand that has gained a great reputation for its choripanes

Calentao In reference to the previous sentence, I have been forced to talk about the typical breakfast of Medellín, the curious calentao. This is a plate of food that was not consumed the day before. In hotels you can find it in a mixture of rice, beans and eggs. I recommend accompanying it with an arepa. Delicious.

Empanadas de Iglesia Medellín is the city of Empanadas de Iglesia. It receives this name because it is about the tasty empanadas that they sell in street stalls when you leave mass on Sundays. These delicious empanadas are filled with potatoes. When the potato in the filling is Creole, it is called pipián. There are different ingredients such as: meat, chicken and rice. These empanadas are accompanied by sweet chili, giving them an unmatched flavor. One of the typical dishes of Antioquia that we liked the most.

Bandeja Paisa Traditionally, the tray paisa is presented with the following ingredients: beans, white rice, roast beef, chicharrón, chorizo, sweet plantains or tostones, fried egg, avocado and a white or yellow arepita Antioquia. The original dish has fifteen main ingredients.
